Tell a kid they're incredible

Absolutely Incredible Kid Day is a day for writing to the kids in your life. Tell them what makes them who they are, in a letter they can keep.

An example

From a few details to a whole letter

These are the kinds of things you’d tell us. Then you read it over and make it sound like you.

  • 8 years old
  • Lego, soccer, drawing dragons
  • finished his first chapter book
  • brave, silly, kind to his little sister

Made-up people and details. Written with Incredible Letters.

Dear Leo,

Today is Absolutely Incredible Kid Day, and I can't think of a better kid to write to. You are eight years old, and you are already so many wonderful things.

I want to start with your first chapter book. You finished it! That takes patience, and it takes sticking with something even when it gets long. I am so proud of you for reading all the way to the end. Every page you turned was your own hard work.

I love watching you do the things you love. When you build with Lego, you think so carefully about every piece. When you play soccer, you run and try your best. And your dragons! The way you draw them makes me smile. I love that you have such a big imagination, and I hope you never stop making new dragons.

You are brave, Leo. You try new things, and you keep going even when something feels a little hard. That kind of courage is something to be proud of.

You are also very silly, and I hope you stay that way. Your jokes and goofy faces make our whole home happier. Laughing with you is one of my favorite things in the world.

Most of all, I see how kind you are to your little sister. You look out for her and help her, and you make her feel safe and loved. Being a good big brother is a special job, and you do it so well. It tells me what a good heart you have.

I want you to remember this: I don't love you because of the books you finish, the goals you score, or the dragons you draw. I love you because you are Leo. On your best days and on your hard days, nothing will ever change that. I will always be on your side, and I will always be proud to be your dad.

Love, Dad
